December 10, 2009

NIGHTWISH's "Amaranth" has been selected as the theme song of a new German series, "Insignium - Im Zeichen Des Kreuzes" ("Insignia - Under The Sign Of The Cross"),which is scheduled to premiere in January 2010.

According to a press release, "Insignium - Im Zeichen Des Kreuzes" chronicles the adventures of the special prosecutor in the Vatican, Sante della Vigna. The series stars Dietmar Wunder, the German dubbing voice of the recent James Bond actor Daniel Craig.

"Amaranth" comes off NIGHTWISH's latest album, "Dark Passion Play", which has reportedly sold nearly one million copies worldwide since it came out in September 2007.

NIGHTWISH played a special homecoming show on September 19 at the sold-out, 11,000-capacity Hartwall Arena in Helsinki to mark the end of the band's colossal "Dark Passion Play" two-year world tour. Support at the gig came from APOCALYPTICA.

NIGHTWISH is not expected to play any more shows until the release of the band's next studio album.
